Turtlebox has become one of the most successful speaker companies, tailoring its products to outdoor adventures and enthusiasts. Just look in duck boats and trucks around the country. Chances are you’ll find a Turtlebox fairly quickly. Waterfowl hunters have fully embraced the rugged and weatherproof design, enjoying tunes on the water, at the truck, and throughout the off-season. We’ve heard and caught glimpses of Turtlebox’s newest oversized speaker in recent years, and today is the day that speaker is here. The Turtlebox Grande is a step up from the Gen 2, offering a bigger speaker, increased output, extended battery life, and the same weatherproof design consumers come to expect. So, what does this mean for waterfowlers?

The addition of the Grande to Turtlebox’s lineup offers some impressive features. With a 10-inch woofer and a maximum 126 decibel output, these speakers are loud. A new and improved Bluetooth 5.4 also enables users to activate “Party Mode,” simultaneously pairing 100 or more speakers. In addition, the speaker sees improved battery life, an IP67 waterproof shell, and an ABS crush-proof rating.
While these features are certainly impressive, we wanted to know just how this would relate to waterfowl hunting. Here is how we plan on using the Grande:
- Boat Rides: Mud motors are loud. This typically means ripping through the marsh without tunes. That’s where the Grande’s impressive output comes into play. After a successful hunt, you’ll be able to listen to your favorite tunes even over the roar of a mud motor. Just be conscious of other hunters and resting birds, as they will definitely hear you coming.
- Snow Goose Hunting: Anyone who has targeted snows during conservation season is familiar with E-callers. These callers are designed to mimic the sound and volume of large groups of snow geese. The Turtlebox Grande is plenty loud enough to serve this role and can be paired with other speakers emitting sound throughout the spread. Plus, Turtelbox offers this white speaker to blend in with your decoy spread.
- Cleaning Birds: After a successful hunt, the real work sets in—cleaning birds. Sure, you can sit down and grind through your pile without tunes, but that’s no fun. Instead, with a few buddies and some good music, sit down, clean your birds, and recap stories from the hunt. The process will be much more enjoyable this way.
The new Grande is an impressive piece of tech. Packed full of features, it is certainly built to withstand the elements and keep spirits high, even after a bad hunt. It does come with a hefty price tag of $699, but surviving a season in the duck woods is not easy. Any speaker up to that task is definitely worth consideration.
